What Is It?
Laser Hair Removal is a non-invasive energy-based laser treatment that provides permanent hair reduction. Both men and women can benefit from our hair removal services. Laser hair removal is not a permanent removal, but a permanent reduction of 85 to 90%. After each visit you will see 15 to 20% reduction making it easier to shave with less irritation!
How Does It Work?
Laser Hair Removal uses low energy laser beams to kill unwanted hair follicles. The laser sends a beam of light that penetrates through the skin to the hair follicle where it is absorbed. The energy from the light is transformed into heat, which destroys the hair follicle leaving the surrounding skin unaffected. Because some hair follicles may enter their growth cycle after your first treatment, multiple treatments may be necessary.
When determining a protocol and treatment plan, taking in account patient characteristics, such as skin and hair color, body chemistry and even genetic makeup, our system sets new standards for safety, comfort and effectiveness.
Does it hurt?
The laser uses a Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) before the laser beam thatcools and soothes the skin. Slight discomfort and a stinging sensation may result as the light penetrates the skin. The discomfort level varies from person to person, depending on his/her pain threshold.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments you may need depends on the density of the hair and your own personal hair growth cycles. The laser only affects hair when it is in its early growth phase, and will kill the follicles that are actively in the stage of growth. Repeat sessions will help to destroy the remaining hair follicles. On average, 4-6 treatments 6 weeks apart are needed to achieve maximum results. Factors such as age, ethnicity, hormones and location of the procedure also play a part in the amount of treatments you may need. Results vary from person to person, however, and some people respond better to treatment than others. During the initial consultation an individual treatment schedule will be discussed.
Recovery Time:
There is little to no downtime with this procedure. You are able to return toeveryday activities immediately after your treatment. However, the use of sunscreen is highly recommended on any areas that have been treated.
The treated area may become pink or red within 30 minutes of the procedure. Irritation is common and typically disappears within 20 minutes to a few hours and is relieved with the application of a cool compress, cold gel pack or other cooling agents.
What are the risks?
On rare occasion hives, swelling and/or rashes may occur in which a hydrocortisone cream, oral antihistamines and/or an injection are available. If this should occur we would simply pre-treat you with an antihistamine or equivalent prior to your next treatment.
